Your privacy is important to us. We want to be transparent with you on what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. Moreover, we want you to know your rights regarding this personal data. Therefore, we strongly recommend you to read this privacy policy.   •  “You”, “Your” refers to a website visitor;
  •  “Personal data” means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (‘data subject’); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly;
  • “Website”: refers to https://www.vdp.com, as well as all webpages, platforms, interactive features, applications, widgets, blogs, social networks, social network tabs, or other offerings that post a link to this Privacy Policy, are subject to this Privacy Policy.

What personal data do we collect about you and why?

We collect information you give us directly; we collect, store and process all the information you enter on our websites or provide to us in any other way. You might enter such information during the following actions:

  • When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your name, surname and e-mail address to be able to send our newsletter in a personal manner.
  • When you visit our website, we collect your IP-address, domain, date, time, browser type, length visit, type of operating system, etc. How a visitor actually navigates when visiting our website, and any communication being send over to, or received from, Vandeputte, will be added to a system-technical logging. This logging will only be used to better support the visitor in case he experiences technical issues when navigating the website, or in case the visitor has functional questions or wishes to raise a complaint.
  • When you order products in our web shop or if you register on our website, we collect your name, surname, e-mail address, profession, company information (name, address, legal form, number of employees and company number).
  • Additionally, we collect various data to deliver the correct (customized) products: shoe size, eye measurements, ear measurements, clothing sizes, etc.

Vandeputte also collects information on you indirectly: when you visit our website or receive a newsletter from us, we collect information via cookies and other techniques. You can read more about this in our cookie policy.

How long do we keep your personal data?

We keep personal data about you in the following cases and as long as necessary for the purpose as described above:

  1. when it is necessary for the purposes which you gave consent for;
  2. when it is required by contract;
  3. when obligated by law.

When you are subscribed to our newsletter, we keep your personal data as long as you do not unsubscribe.

The system-technical logging, as mentioned above, is retained for a one year period.

Your rights regarding your personal data

The GDPR gives rights to individuals with regard to the personal data that Vandeputte stores. Data subjects can only execute these rights for the processing activities for which Vandeputte is Controller. The rights are not absolute and Vandeputte will honor them when they apply. You can do this free of charge by sending an e-mail to dpo@vdp.com. As a data subject you can exercise the following rights:

  • Right to information: you can request information about which personal data we have about you, the purposes of the personal data processing, and the practical modalities of such processing.
  • Right of access: you can request to know if Vandeputte process your personal data and receive a copy of the personal data.
  • Right to rectification, deletion, restriction: you have the right to have personal data corrected or complemented, or under certain circumstances, to have your personal data removed from our files. You also have the right to restrict the processing of your personal data in some cases.
  • Right to object: if you do not want to be kept informed by receiving our newsletter, you are entitled request this by email, or you can click on the unsubscribe link in the received e-mails. You can also object to other processing activities. Vandeputte will then determine if it is possible to stop the processing, taking the specific circumstances into account.
  • Right to data portability: you have the right to request  a machine readable copy of your personal data. In some cases you can request a transfer of  your personal data to another organization in machine-readable standard format.
  • Right to withdraw your consent at any time: if specific processing of your personal data is based on your consent, then you have the right to withdraw your consent at a later time.

We commit to protect your personal data

We are committed to protect the security and confidentiality of your personal data. We use appropriate technical and organizational measures in such a manner that processing will meet the requirements of the national and European Union laws and ensure the protection of your rights.

Data sharing and transfer outside the EEA

Your personal data can be shared with our processors when they are necessary for the services of Vandeputte. We require our processors to process personal data in a secure and confidential manner.

The categories of processors that your data may be shared with, are cleaning companies, logistics companies, opticians and audiologists, companies providing orthopedic services and aids, manufacturers and resellers of optical products such as safety frames, specialty glasses and lenses, of safety shoes, of safety clothing, of protective masks, respiratory protection and head protection, and of hearing protection.

In addition, we share your information with other third parties when this is legally required.

Your personal data will not be transferred to third parties outside the European Economical Area, unless the third parties are either certified according to Privacy Shield, or to countries that have an adequacy decision.

Changes to the privacy policy

We may change this privacy policy at any time. All updates and amendments are effective immediately upon notice, which we may give by any means, including, but not limited to, by posting a revised version of this Privacy Policy or other notice on the Website. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy often to stay informed of changes that may affect you, as your continued use of the website signifies you have read this Privacy Policy and are informed of how your personal data is processed by Vandeputte.
