In many industries, safe storage of (hazardous) materials is crucial. Fireproof cabinets play an important role in this, but there are differences between chemical and battery cabinets that affect safety.

Safety storage cabinet for lithium-ion batteries

Lithium fires are an increasing problem. Fireproof storage cabinets for lithium-ion batteries are specially designed for safe storage and charging. In the event of an explosion, the fire will be contained inside the cabinet, preventing further ignition.

The Loxxer fireproof cabinets have self-closing doors with locks, and are equipped with adjustable shelves and power outlet strips. They are equipped with a smoke detection system that switches off the power supply, stops ventilation, activates a fire extinguishing system and triggers alarms. This will control the fire until the fire service arrives.

Safety storage cabinets for chemicals

Fireproof chemical storage cabinets are designed to safely store hazardous liquids such as solvents. In the event of a fire, the cabinet keeps the fire out so it cannot come into contact with the hazardous substances, thus preventing an explosion.

Please note: There are separate cabinets for acids and alkalis, in which the acids are separated from the alkalis by compartments, however, these acid/alkali safety storage cabinets are not fireproof!

Asecos safety storage cabinets for chemicals

Asecos cabinets are ideal for the safe storage of flammable and aggressive hazardous substances. They comply with stringent standards, such as EN 14470-1 and PGS 15. The cabinets are flame retardant for 90 minutes (type 90), GS certified, and have an integrated aeration and venting system with corrosion resistant, metal-free air ducts.

Conclusion

To summarise, a chemical storage cabinet ensures that the products do not ignite in an external fire, whereas a battery storage cabinet prevents an internal fire from spreading.
